Leo helped her up and his arm dipped behind her back to give her more support. He gave her a smile as they walked slowly, hoping to make her feel at least a little bit better. “You are a great dancer, you know.”
Leo smiled and looked at her after his love kissed his cheek. He returned it quickly after. She was the sweetest thing in the world. “You will love it, I promise you. Unless you do not like meat or vegetables. Then it may not be your favorite.” He chuckled. “Oh– schwarzwald kirschtorte is, hmm.. it is– oh– black forest cake and rote grutze is a type of pudding. They are so delicious, Khadijah, you will love them.” He said, leading her into the dining hall, giving a small wave to one of the staff members before going to a decent sized table to hold all of the food. He pulled a chair out for her and smiled. “My love.”
Leo smiled at her and shook his head, “If he would not help then I would have to sell all my belongings to help however I can personally. The last thing I would want is for you and your people to be in need.” He felt his cheeks flush more. His heart always lept when he was with her. “Well then, my love,” He said, looking at her again with a bright smile on his face, “You can have as much as your heart desires. There will be ham and goose and carp and potatoes and eintopf and bröselknödel and so much more– Gott– Oh– And schwarzwalder kirschtorte and rote grutze for dessert along with whatever else is made. Khadijah, I promise you will enjoy yourself, the chefs always outdo themselves for Christmas meals. I’m just very grateful they accepted my request. I was worried they wouldn’t.”
“Not for a moment.” Leo smiled at her, giving her hand a light squeeze. He let out a soft laugh, knowing she was joking. “Well, if you did, I would have my country help pull you out of it.” He said, walking with her lightly. “Well.. I don’t put in a request often, but I asked for a big German dinner with all of the fixings. I’ve been anticipating it all week.”
Leo was certainly flustered at first until she started to laugh. A wave of relief washed over him and he let out s laugh if his own, cheeks flushing in mild embarrassment. “Ja– you had me worried for a moment. I’d never known you to be so materialistic, I’m very glad you are not.” He smiled softly at her.
Khadi found it quite funny to see his reaction. He looked honestly as if he was at loss for words at her pretending. She just smiled. “No worries, it isn’t me who is materialistic, some friends, but not me. Gift to me are…mementos and signs that I hold some value to a person, even if it was last minute brought. Someone cared enough to about me to get me something.”
“And how grateful I am that you aren’t.” He smiled at her. “I feel the same, honestly. The fact that someone put me in their thoughts is more meaningful than anything else. Now, come, let me give you your gift.” He said, gesturing his head toward the door.

“Come,” He said softly, unable to help the smile on his lips. “Let’s get to dinner so I can give you your gifts.”
Leo held her and pressed his nose into her hair, taking in the scent of her shampoo. “I love you.” He whispered to her simply, his chest bubbling with emotion.
“I have no doubt you can be, but only when you need to be. But I love to make you flush, my darling. Any shade on you is a beautiful one.” He smiled softly, placing a soft kiss at the corner of her mouth. “I’m sorry, I should have asked first.”
You aren’t anything close to air headed. Kindness is not stupidity. If you were to be Queen tomorrow, liebe, you would be the best your country has ever known. You’re one of the smartest women I know. You’re not just some emotional being, you’re rational and logical and I would gladly bow to you.
